So then, that was odd.

Just then an MSN messenger window pops up. “Oh, it’s Tom” (Woody, a friend of mine) I thought. So engage on a conversation. He asks if I’m going to Libby’s this evening so I say I don’t know who she is. We talk about some other stuff. How I’ve been fixing the garden fence, and he’s got his Dad a top and an exhibition ticket for this birthday, how I started Lucy’s car with a wooden mallet (starter problem), how I’ll be watching Ghost in the Shell again later. He says how he’s knacked, so might not bother going out.

So I ask how the guitar playing is going. He doesn’t have a clue what I’m talking about and thinks I mean some sort of computer game.

I get a strange feeling come over me.

The Tom I’ve been talking to for the past 10 minutes is not the Tom I know and also I’m not the Martyn that this Tom went out with on New Year’s Eve.

We have no idea who each other is.

How fucking bizarre.

Anyway, he’s gone out to Camden to see some friends.

The Tom I know is still at home and amused by the whole affair.
