When making pancakes the smoke alarm may go off
So, when attending to the alarm (or ripping it from the ceiling and throwing it in the garden) be prepared to deal with the actual fire in the kitchen that the false alarm indirectly caused because you left the pan on the heat with a plastic utensil in it.
There’s a lesson to be learnt here, I’m sure.
