Are you using Chitika eMiniMalls on your site yet?

Chitika eMiniMalls are another advertising channel you can add to your website. Like Google’s adsense they operate in a contextual manner depending on the content of your page. Although, if you want to run them on the same page as google’s adsense, then you can run them in a static mode and remain within the T&C of both programs.

I signed up to them last week and had approval in less that 48 hours, which is really cool so I’m letting them have free run on the Toxic Byte website at the moment, which wasn’t a good adsense performer anyways.

What’s cool about them is how striking they look. Whereas adsense rules the roost in a stealth manner appearing with text that will appeal to people, the Chitika eMiniMalls stand out from your page and should be offering your visitor exactly what they’re after. Here’s an example of one…

I’ve had to run that there with a specified set of keywords and with the search button switched off to stay inline with the Adsense rules. But it shows the power of them. That one is one of the bolder ones, but they come in all sizes.

Another cool thing about them, that seems simple at first. Is the ability to name channels for them rather than the google method of a long incomprehensible string. I named that one above “wtkm_1st” to show in the stats how that one performs (and how many impressions it gets). Although that one isn’t placed there for income, but as an example.

One downside (if you can call it a downside) is that they only really work to their full extent on product related sites because they base the adverts they show on the Amazon and Shopping.com catalogues. Oh, and I’m not sure where they stand on international traffic seeing as most of the vendors I’ve seen are US based and may not ship abroad.

Both of those two issues will probably dispear as they program grows.
